Easter Bunny Express Review
The Bunny Ride that turned a dreary Saturday into a Fun Adventure!
So this Saturday we visited the North Carolina Transportation Museum and rode the Easter Bunny Express. Little Man has REALLY gotten infatuated with trains lately so this was the perfect little adventure for our weekend! Of course, he fell asleep on the way...while chanting "choo-choo, bunny, choo-choo, bunny, we go on choo-choo with bunny....." it was quite adorable.
Once we arrived it was like stepping back in time when riding trains was the typical form of transportation. The old depot station was exactly what I would picture a train depot to be like. We got our tickets and waited off to the side....unfortunately the rain decided to take over for the day so we weren't able to wander around and check out the outside of the station. Luckily there was a "Gold Dabloon" machine inside (we call the penny press machines "Gold Dabloon" machines because Little Man is allowed to get a gold dabloon if he behaves....just like Jake and the Neverland Pirates...yeah, it all began on our Disney trip last year).
A few minutes before our departure time we stepped out onto the platform and Little Man was completely mesmerized by the train that had just arrived to the Depot- dropping off the last load of passengers. The magic began when the conductor yelled "All Aboard!"
Little man was so excited....he could barely contain himself...he was going nuts looking for "The Bunny"! We found our seats and Little Man became enthralled with being on a REAL train....it made me think back to when people rode trains all the time and how much fun it must have been...the seats faced each other so I didn't miss a moment of Little Man's excitement. Luckily we got on the train just in time.....it began pouring rain shortly after we sat down.
A few moments after boarding we could hear a siren off in the distance; a vintage police car pulled up next to the train and who should hop out of the passenger side? Yep, the Bunny the Bunny!!! The Easter Bunny had arrived, he promptly boarded the train, and we began our trip.
Little Man was thrilled to meet the Easter Bunny and give him a high-five! And he enjoyed the yummy lollipop that he received too. Our ride lasted about 40 minutes and was a memorable experience.....I can't wait to go back for other events....including the Santa Train....I accidentally told Hubs about the Santa Train in front of Little Man and now he can't wait either!
After our train ride we did check out the rest of the North Carolina Transportation Museum....they had a storyteller and Easter crafts.
And the rest of the museum was a lot of fun too! So if you're looking for something fun to do that's less than an hour from Lake Norman then I highly recommend checking out the North Carolina Transportation Museum!
